Working in the UKAre you thinking of living and working in the UK? If so, we can help. StudentsIf you're an international student you may not need permission to work here when you're studying. If
your home country is in the EEA, or you're a Swiss national, you can work without restrictions on the
type or amount of work you do.
Before you leave homeThere are a number of ways that you can work in the UK, however you need to make sure that you have the ‘right to work’ before you leave home. You are entitled to work in the UK if you are in a working holidaymaker scheme, have dual nationality or partiality (British parent or grandparent), or if you are married to a British national. Find out more below. What you need to be able to work in the UKWe are happy to register overseas job seekers who, already have work permits and are currently resident
in the UK. We regret that we are unable to assist with obtaining work permits and cannot provide any guarantee
of work or register job seekers prior to their arrival in the UK. We would advise that you contact the
British embassy in your country for further advice about obtaining work permits. EligibilityEU citizens have an automatic right to work in any EU country. Visitors from countries outside of the
EU should view the information below. From 29 February 2008 any highly skilled foreign national currently working in Britain who wants to extend their stay will need to apply under a new points-based system. This new point’s based system will be extended to those applying from overseas later in the year. It will not apply to citizens of EEA countries. |
